The Sidewinder is a mini-revolver manufactured by North American Arms. It is known for its swing-out cylinder, which allows for quick reloads without having to remove the cylinder. The frame of the Sidewinder is made using investment casting, while the barrel and cylinder are machined from solid stainless steel bar stock. This precise machining ensures that the firearm meets the required tolerance levels for its size. The fit and finish of the Sidewinder are excellent, with the cylinder and frame sides polished and the topstrap, barrel sides, frame bottom, and backstrap featuring a matte finish for an attractive contrast.The Sidewinder is a single-action-only design with an exposed hammer and an unguarded trigger. Its grip features a bird’s-head profile, which has the same dimensions as other Mini-Revolvers and can accommodate optional stocks. The cylinder of the Sidewinder opens to the right side of the frame due to its internal design and the location of the cylinder hand and stop. To open the cylinder, the hammer is set on half-cock, and the knurled end of the ejection rod is pushed forward to release the cylinder. The ejector rod can then be depressed to partially eject the empty cases. However, due to the size and design of the Sidewinder, the empty cases need to be individually removed, and the cylinder has to be rotated to clear the stock.The North American Arms Sidewinder model described has a 1.5″ barrel length and is chambered in 22WMR (Winchester Magnum Rimfire).
