The Ruger Mark IV Rimfire Pistols have a classic look similar to the Mark III model, but with a one-button takedown feature for easy field stripping. By simply pressing a recessed button in the back of the frame, the upper receiver can be tilted up and removed from the grip frame without the need for tools. This allows for easy cleaning of the barrel from the chamber to the muzzle. The MKIV also includes other notable improvements, such as a one-piece grip frame made from precision CNC-machined solid aluminum alloy. It also features an ambidextrous manual safety and a redesigned bolt stop for more ergonomic operation. The magazine drops free upon release for quicker reloads, and a redesigned magazine disconnect safety prevents accidental discharge when the magazine is removed. Internal improvements have been made to the hammer, sear, bolt, and firing pin for smoother and more reliable feeding. Each individual model may have specific variations in features, but the overall construction of the pistol remains the same, with a one-piece barreled receiver and internal cylindrical bolt design. This robust design ensures permanent sight-to-barrel alignment, resulting in higher accuracy potential compared to traditional moving-slide designs.
